Sibling Tsunami is the first half of the eighth episode of season 1.

The episode was produced in 2002 and premiered worldwide on December 15, 2002 in the United Kingdom and on Nickelodeon in the United States on October 3, 2003.

Synopsis[]

Before Jenny was created, there was XJ-8, and before her, there was XJ-7, XJ-6, XJ-5, XJ-4, XJ-3, XJ-2, and finally, XJ-1. When Jenny finds and reactivates her sisters, she is beyond happy. But each sister has her own personality, and not all of them have the same level of friendliness that Jenny has. Still, sisters can be counted on, right?

Quotes[]

Jenny: And this is XJ-8. She's the closest to me in age, but she's still my little sister.

XJ8: It would appear that I am larger than you, therefore I am the Bigger Sister, and you are the Little Sister. The puny, scrawny, inferior—

Jenny: Yeah, ok, really, but she still looks up to me.

XJ8: Actually, since I am taller than you...

XJ8: This human was blindfolded and was using a stick type weapon to vandalize a colorful paper pig.

Jenny: (annoyed) Ohh, it's a game, XJ-8!

Jenny: After all the bad stuff I said...

XJ-8: That's what sisters are for.

XJ-6: Oil is thicker than water.

XJ-4: But so much harder to get out of a carpet.

XJ-5: A few harsh words aren't going to break up the XJs!

(after noticing XJ8) Brad: Jenny?

Jenny: Hey guys, I'd like you to meet my sisters!

Brad: But we thought you were an only child?

Jenny: Me too. Guess mom was holding out on me!

Jenny: This little sweetie is XJ-1. (XJ-1 starts crying) Somebody needs her oil changed!

Jenny: Hey XJ-7, what's got you down? XJ7: Oh, life, the universe, everything.

Ms. Wakeman: Goodnight XJ1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. And, goodnight XJ-10!

Jenny: What?!

Wakeman: Kidding! Just kidding.

XJ5: XJ-1, grease the slice! XJ-8, use your muscle! XJ-2, do your stuff! Tidy up, XJ-4! OK, XJ-3, check the workmanship!

XJ-5: Come on, Jenny! We can't do it without you!

Jenny: They're heroes! And more importantly, they're my sisters!

Trivia[]

  • Like most episodes of the series, this episode premiered in a handful of countries before the United States.
    • This episode premiered in the United Kingdom on December 15, 2002.
    • This episode premiered in Australia on May 16, 2003.
    • This episode premiered in Mexico on June 20, 2003.
  • When Jenny was reading the note left by Dr. Wakeman, at the end she read "Love, Mom." But the note actually read: "Yours, Wakeman."
    • Additionally, according to the note, Dr. Wakeman left motor oil for Jenny in case she got thristy. When Jenny is seen drinking it, however, it is actually a can of WD-40, an abrasive.
  • Technically and chronologically, XJ-9 is the youngest in the XJ series, and XJ-1 is the oldest, as XJ-1 was built first.
  • XJ-7 and XJ-8 are voiced by Audrey Wasilewski, who also voices Tuck.
  • This episode reunites Janice Kawaye and Kath Soucie, both of whom voice Gi and Linka in Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990-1996).
  • The XJ Siblings are possibly based on the manga Cyborg 009 (1964) by Japanese mangaka, Shotaro Ishinomori. This comparison is further supported by XJ-1, who is a baby, much like how Cyborg 001 is also a baby.
  • The Mad Hammer Bros. are a parody of the Mario Bros. from Nintendo‘s Super Mario series (1985-).
    • However, in appearance and demeanor, they more closely parody Wario and Waluigi (the evil alter egos of the Mario Brothers), in terms of their gruff and villainous personalities, ragged mustaches, and the Red Brother being stout and fat (like Wario), and the Green Brother being lanky and thin (like Waluigi).
    • The jump sound effect from Super Mario World (1990) is heard when the Mad Hammer Bros. jump.

When XJ-8 said that Jenny was the little sister, she used the word "inferior". This is a callback of Soundwave's famous quote and his last words in Transformers: Prime: "Soundwave superior. Autobots inferior!".
